ST. PETERSBURG, October 28 (RIA Novosti) - The Nashi youth movement is holding a rally against extremism in St. Petersburg, the organization's regional department said Friday.

The movement has put up about 100 pickets in downtown St. Petersburg and near the largest universities of the northern capital, a Nashi spokesman said.

Nashi protests against the murder of a Peruvian student in Voronezh in Central Russia and all other murders of foreigners in this country.

"Murders of defenseless people are a shame to our Motherland," the spokesman said, adding that the movement had collected more than 10,000 signatures in their support and intended to hold rallies in many Russian cities and collect more than 1 million signatures.
