TIRASPOL, October 29 (RIA Novosti, Vladimir Sandutsa) - Resumed talks on the Transdnestr settlement create favorable conditions for boosting Russian armaments withdrawal from the self-proclaimed Moldovan republic, a Russian ambassador said.
"One of the circumstances that negatively affected the resumption of this process [arms withdrawal] was the absence of political dialogue between the two parties to the Transdnestr conflict," Ambassador-at-Large Valery Nesterushkin said at a news conference in the capital of Transdnestr.
Nesterushkin said Moldova's capital Chisinau and Tiraspol had not maintained direct political contacts for the last 15 months.
Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev earlier said Russia had to withdraw its armaments from Transdnestr until December 31.
