NIZHNY NOVGOROD, November 1 (RIA Novosti-Volga, Andrei Rukavishnikov) - An unidentified man attacked a foreign student in Nizhny Novgorod, northwestern Russia, local police said Tuesday.
Police spokesman Colonel Alexander Gorbatov said the assault occurred late on October 28 near a local store, and caused minor injuries.
Gorbatov declined to identify the victim's nationality, and said no inquiry had been launched.
This was the latest in a series of assaults on foreigners in the region. In late October, a 22-year-old student from Cameroon was beaten up in a dormitory of a Nizhny Novgorod university.
This year, more than 140 attacks on foreigners were registered in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
