KIEV, November 1 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said Tuesday Ukraine's membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO) would improve living standards and help raise the country's GDP.
"Ukraine's accession to the World Trade Organization...will change the country's position on the world market," Yushchenko said.
He also said that after WTO accession Ukraine's exports were expected to grow by 10%, GDP by 1.9%, and foreign investment in the country by 50%.
Yushchenko added that 65% of the country's legislation complied with WTO standards.
Ukraine expects to join the WTO in 2005.
