KALININGRAD, November 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russian and U.S. navy officials said they valued the 1972 Agreement on the Prevention of Incidents on and over the High Seas during ongoing talks Tuesday in Kaliningrad.
"The fact that the U.S. provided five aircraft to rescue the AS-28 minisub proves the effectiveness of this agreement," Admiral Vladimir Avdoshin, the head of the Russian delegation, said.
The parties agreed that one of the main tasks requiring joint efforts was fighting international terrorism. Joint anti-terrorism exercises are scheduled to be conducted soon in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Russian-U.S. talks, to last until November 3, will also focus on the issues of submarine navigation and joint rescue operations.
