YEKATERINBURG, November 3 (RIA Novosti, Roman Chuvakov) - A teenager who beat a Chinese national to death in the city of Yekaterinburg in Russia's Urals federal district has been found guilty, local prosecutors said Thursday.
"The court sentenced the [16-year-old minor] to nine and a half years of imprisonment in a juvenile colony," the source said.
He will also have to pay 380,000 rubles (about $13,300) in damages to his victim's family.
The court established that the boy and a companion beat a 27-year-old Chinese national on July 18, 2004, striking his head with a stone. The man died several days later.
The verdict was passed October 19, but has yet to come into effect.
The defense said it intended to appeal the verdict to a higher court.
