MOSCOW, November 5 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Military Intelligence Service has turned 87.
On November 5, 1918, the Red Army's Field Staff Registration Directorate, a forerunner to the GRU, the Main Intelligence Directorate, was established, marking a new stage in the activity of the country's intelligence services.
"Today, military intelligence remains an important instrument of Russia's military policy, reliably protecting its political and economic interests," the Russian Armed Forces General Staff said Saturday.
Saturday, November 5 is also a professional holiday of the Russian Interior Ministry's intelligence officers.
