WASHINGTON, D.C., November 7 (RIA Novosti, Arkady Orlov) - The U.S. affirmed Monday the finding of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe that Sunday's parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan had failed to meet international standards.
Speaking at a White House news briefing, State Department Deputy Spokesman Adam Ereli urged the Azerbaijani authorities to launch an inquiry into reported vote irregularities.
He also cautioned the opposition against challenging the election outcome through violence.
