Below is a summary of the main security-related events in the North Caucasus on November 8, 2005

* Daghestani police detained two local citizens suspected of being accomplices to militants

* A militant suspected of throwing a grenade into a car with Chechen policemen and wounding them early on Monday was detained in the republic

* Law enforcers discovered large caches with ammunition in the Nazran district of Ingushetia

* Unidentified assailants opened fire on policemen guarding a water supply point in North Ossetia. No one was hurt

* An Arab mercenary was killed in the village of Babayurt in the Russian republic of Daghestan

* Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said at a conference on Kabardino-Balkaria that the Russian government and the republic's leadership should create conditions for its social and economic development to prevent terrorism in the future

* Senator Oleg Panteleyev said a report from the federal parliamentary commission investigating the September 2004 Beslan tragedy would be published after December 20
