VILNIUS, November 8 (RIA Novosti, Vladimir Vodo) - Kazakh state-owned oil and gas producer Kazmunaigaz is seeking to buy shares in Mazeikiu nafta, a Lithuanian oil concern, the general director of the company's trading house said in Vilnius Tuesday.
Kazmunaigaz is contending for a stake in the Lithuanian concern along with TNK-BP, LUKoil, ConocoPhilips, Gazprombank, Vitol, and Baltic Holding.
The Lithuanian parliament passed a bill granting the government the authority to obtain a $1 billion loan to purchase Yukos' 53.7% stake in Mazeikiu nafta, which has been arrested by an Amsterdam court ruling, in order to resell it.
The Lithuanian government also plans to sell about 30% of its 40.66% stake in the company.
The Lithuanian concern owns the only oil refinery on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea with an annual capacity of up to 12 million metric tons, an oil terminal in Butinge, whose capacity is eight million metric tons a year, and the Birzai oil pipeline.
