TBILISI, November 16 (RIA Novosti, Marina Kvaratskheliya) - Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has approved the decision by Georgian Parliamentary Speaker Nino Burdzhanadze to refuse to participate in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Parliamentary Assembly session in St. Petersburg.
"I respect the decision of the parliamentary speaker," Saakashvili said. "I believe it was the right decision."
The Georgian delegation, led by Burdzhanadze, refused to participate in the session, scheduled for November 17-18, after the Russian Embassy in Georgia allegedly denied an entrance visa for Givi Targamadze, the chair of the parliament's committee on security and defense.
