TYUMEN, November 17 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Perestoronin) - Former governor of the Ural region of Tyumen Sergei Sobyanin, recently appointed presidential chief of staff, said Thursday that the media had made significant contributions to the Tyumen region local authorities' achievements.
Sobyanin met with regional media heads to thank them for their cooperation.
"I am leaving a strong region with good prospects," he said, adding that he would continue to help the Tyumen region at his new post.
Sobyanin said the region should become a center of oil science, oil services, and geology.
"Our region should be competitive not only in the Urals Federal District, but also nationwide," he said. "It is even capable of becoming a world leader. We have the potential for further progress."
