MOSCOW, November 17 (RIA Novosti) - More than 230 illegal migration criminal cases have been opened in Russia, the head of the Federal Migration Service said Thursday.
Konstantin Romodanovsky said the maximum punishment for illegal migration was five years in prison.
He said the country was lacking a workforce and that the state was ready to support and protect legal migrants. "We need workers for the construction and agricultural sectors."
Romodanovsky added that his agency would launch an online database for labor migrants next year.
