TBILISI, November 19 (RIA Novosti, Marina Kvaratskhelia) - Georgia hopes for UN activity in the resolution of conflicts on its territory, President Mikhail Saakashvili said after a meeting with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan Saturday.

"I expect the UN to boost its work on resolving conflicts and [hope] the member-states of this organization will allow the UN to do so," Saakashvili said.

He also said Tbilisi was disappointed with current developments in the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia that had broken away from Georgia in the early 1990s together with South Ossetia.

He said that Abkhazia was selling property of Georgians and other ethnic groups that had been expelled from the region and that kidnappings, murders, and tortures of civilians were common in this breakaway province. "The Abkhaz side refuses to open a UN human rights office... and Abkhazia's militarization continues," Saakashvili said.

"Georgia wants peace but will never put up with such human rights violations," he said.
