MOSCOW, November 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Prince of Monaco Albert II on his ascension to the throne, the Kremlin press service said Saturday.
"I am convinced that the principality will get a worthy follower of glorious deeds of Prince Rainier III [who died in April] and will strengthen its positions as a state making a positive contribution to European and world processes under your leadership," Putin said in his message.
He said he was convinced Russia-Monaco relations in the spheres of culture, tourism, etc. would continue developing under Prince Albert II.
"Russia is also open for developing mutually beneficial cooperation in other spheres, including plans to research the North Pole," Putin added.
