Participants of the round table on the problems of forming an alternative natural gas fuel market said despite thriving natural gas businesses in the West, the market was developing chaotically in Russia, mostly in the small business sector, without a clear-cut market policy or transparency in relations between its players.
Those attending the round table, which had been organized by the Delovaya Rossiya (Business Russia) public organization, the Eurasian Propane Filling Association and the De-Monopolized Natural Gas - 2004 ad hoc group, said raw material and fuel monopolies were the main obstacles for the market's proper development.
Experts said fuel prices were excessively high and further growth would impair this kind of business, making drivers using propane as an alternative to gasoline stop using it.
