MOSCOW, November 22 (RIA Novosti) - A court in the Yaroslavl region has sentenced a woman to four years in prison for threatening the life of her 12-year-old son, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office said Tuesday.
The court for the region, located about 200km (130 miles) northeast of Moscow, found Nadezhda Shaburova guilty of neglecting her child and threatened homicide or heavy bodily injuries. She was also deprived of her maternal rights.
The court established that Shaburova treated her son brutally and neglected to raise him in the proper physical and moral conditions.
"Being under the influence of alcohol, the woman tried to strangle her son," the Prosecutor General's Office said. "She repeatedly kicked him out of the house, humiliated and battered him, refused him food and clothes. The child was permanently hungry and dirty and took shelter at neighbors' to avoid beatings," the source said.
