MOSCOW, November 22 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Agriculture Ministry confirmed Tuesday that the swans found dead in the Astrakhan region on the Volga delta near the Caspian Sea had died of bird flu.
"Analyses conducted in the Central and Saratov regional veterinary laboratories on November 22 identified the H5 avian flu virus," the ministry's news release said.
On Wednesday, 200 swans were found dead in the Volga delta.
