MOSCOW, November 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russian energy giant Gazprom extended a contract on the supply of natural gas to Romania until 2030 Wednesday.

Alexander Medvedev, Gazprom's deputy CEO and general director of the company's subsidiary Gazexport, and Rainer Seele, board member of BASF subsidiary Wintershall, signed the corresponding agreement on supplies of natural gas to Romania until 2030 via WIEH, a Gazprom-Wintershall joint venture in which each company holds a 50% stake.

Romanian Minister of Economy and Commerce Ioan-Codrut Seres attended the ceremony.

The sides discussed current trans-border pipeline projects and cooperation on the enlargement of gas storage in Romania.

WIEH has been selling the majority of natural gas imported by Romania since 1993. More than 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been supplied to Romania over this period. WIEH currently manages trans-border pipeline projects in northern and southern Romania.
