"I think we have significantly moved our positions [closer together] on the peace settlement in South Ossetia today," Zurab Nogaideli said after a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Nogaideli said he had clarified all the details of Georgia's plan, since Russia considered proposals presented by Georgia at the UN General Assembly in 2004 and those devised by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in Vienna as two separate plans.
"This is a single three-stage plan... I think we will first focus on the implementation of its first stage - the demilitarization of the [South Ossetian] Tskhinval region," Nogaideli said, adding that progress on this issue depends mainly on Russia rather than on South Ossetian authorities.
