"The current opposition is not showing a constructive approach, all its efforts are aimed at overthrowing the current authority and taking its place," Ali Gasanov told journalists.
"I think it will take a long time to start a dialog between the authorities and the opposition on the presidential level," he said, adding that the opposition's claims that it had won the elections were "ridiculous".
"All 1,500 candidates thought they deserved a victory and all of them claimed they had won. This is not serious," Gasanov said.
According to the final results of the November 6 elections, which the Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission submitted to Azerbaijan's Constitutional Court on November 23, Azerbaijani ruling party Yeni Azerbaijan (New Azerbaijan) gained a majority in the country's parliament, the Milli Majlis, taking 58 seats out of 125.
The commission annulled the results in four electoral districts and ordered a new round of elections there.
The opposition is planning another protest rally on Saturday to demand a new round of voting, according to the rally's organizing committee. Opposition blocs that form the Democratic Front, including Azadliq (Freedom) and Yenu Siyasat (New Policy) are expected to participate in the event.
