MOSCOW, November 26 (RIA Novosti) - Thai Foreign Minister Khantathi Suphamongkon arrives in Moscow Saturday on a three-day official visit, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The implementation of bilateral top-level agreements on international security and other issues will be on the agenda of his talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"The sides will focus on the consolidation of multilateral security systems, creation of guarantees of peaceful crisis resolution and formation of a global system of countering modern threats and challenges, above all, international terrorism, under the auspices of the UN," Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said cooperation with Thailand, an influential member of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), was a key trend of Russia's foreign policy in the Pacific Rim. The current visit is held prior to the first Russia-ASEAN summit due in Malaysia in December.

In 2004, Russian-Thai trade grew by 54.9% and exceeded $1.3 billion (with no account for tourism services). Experts forecast that in 2005 bilateral trade will reach $2 billion.

Kamynin said the two countries had good prospects for cooperation in the fuel and energy sphere, including energy supplies from Russia.

He said Russia was interested in bilateral cooperation in the spheres of peaceful space exploration, including training of a Thai astronaut, construction of transport networks in Thailand and disaster relief.
