KIEV, November 26 (RIA Novosti) - A parliamentary election campaign was officially launched in Ukraine Saturday.
Elections to the Supreme Rada are scheduled for March 26, 2006.
Following a recent political reform that turned the country from a presidential-parliamentary into a parliamentary-presidential republic, the elections will now be held on a proportional representation principle, whereby parties garnering at least 3% of the popular vote will divide up 450 seats in parliament on a proportional basis.
Parties that will make it into parliament are to form a coalition government and approve the prime minister.
