MOSCOW, November 29 (RIA Novosti, Olga Lipich) - Senior representatives of the Orthodox and Catholic churches are meeting in Moscow Tuesday to discuss social cooperation, a Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) official said.
Head of the ROC External Relations Department Metropolitan Cyril and President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino will meet at the Moscow Patriarchate office to discuss social teachings of both denominations and their influence on society, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin said.
"The positions [of both churches] on many social issues are coinciding," he official said. "These [include] issues on social justice, social ethics, war and peace and gender relations."
The Moscow Patriarchate office earlier announced that a Tuesday meeting between Alexy II, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia and Cardinal Martino had been cancelled for technical reasons.
