MOSCOW, November 30 (RIA Novosti) - The attorney for the Russian astrologer suing NASA said Wednesday that he had appealed the court ruling against Marina Bai's charges against the U.S. space agency for destroying a comet and upsetting the astrological order of the universe.

"We filed a brief appeal to the Moscow City Court, because we have not yet seen the full text of the Presnensky Court decision," Alexander Molokhov said.

On November 8, the court refused to grant Bai's $302 million claim for moral damages following NASA's July 4 strike on Comet Tempel 1 with a 400-kg impactor fired from a Deep Impact spacecraft 83 million miles away from Earth.

She argued the experiment "encroaches on the system of spiritual and life values, as well as on the natural state of outer space, upsetting the natural balance of forces in the universe."

Vladimir Fortov, vice president of Russia's Academy of Sciences, said NASA's actions posed no danger to Earth.

"The impact of the collision on the comet's orbit was just 10 centimeters, with the distance between it and Earth being millions of kilometers," he said.
