MOSCOW, December 3 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's arms contract with Iran is of a defensive nature and conforms to all of its international obligations, a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Saturday.
"All contracts in the sphere of military-technical cooperation are in full conformity with our international obligations, including in the sphere of nonproliferation, as well as with Russian laws," Mikhail Kamynin said.
He said that also applied to Russia's contract with Iran for the delivery of defensive weapon systems.
Friday, Vedomosti, a respected business daily, reported that Russia was to sell Iran Tor M-1 air-defense missile systems, worth more than $700 million.
