ASTANA, December 4 (RIA Novosti) - Incumbent President of the Central Asian republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev had a confident lead in presidential elections in the republic, exit poll results indicated Sunday.
According to the exit poll conducted by the Moscow-based Center for Political Technologies, Nazarbayev had gained 89.7% electoral support by 6:00 p.m. local time (12:00 p.m. GMT). Zharmakhan Tuyakbai, the leader of the For Just Kazakhstan movement, gained 7.5% of the votes, Alikhan Baimenov, the chairman of the Ak Zhol (Bright Way) party, won 2.2%, parliament member Yerasyl Abylkasymov secured 0.4% and independent candidate Mels Yeleusizov got 0.2% of the votes, the exit polls suggested.
