KIEV, December 8 (RIA Novosti) - Tests done in three European countries have proven that the level of dioxin in Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko's blood is one thousand times higher than normal, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office said Thursday.

Yushchenko took a blood test November 9 as part of an inquiry into his poisoning. The blood samples were sent to clinics in Belgium, Britain and Germany because Ukraine does not have the necessary equipment.

During his presidential campaign, Yushchenko had dinner with Ukrainian Security Service senior officials at a country house belonging to the service's former deputy head, Volodymyr Satsuk, on September 5, 2004. After dinner, Yushchenko fell ill and was taken to the Rudolfinerhaus Clinic in Vienna. The head doctor at the clinic attributed his condition to "high concentrations of dioxin, most likely orally administered."

Oleksandr Zynchenko, the head of Yushchenko's presidential campaign, called the poisoning an assassination attempt.

The poisoning severely disfigured the Ukrainian president's face.
