* The Kazan, a Project 667A (NATO designation YANKEE-I class) nuclear strategic missile submarine, was decommissioned from Russia's Northern Fleet

* A Ukrainian official said on TV that Ukraine could revise the status of the Russian Black Sea Fleet on its territory if Russia introduced market prices on gas supplies to the country

* Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov inspected units of the Moscow Military District in the Tambov Region

* Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova William Hill said he hoped the negotiations on the withdrawal of Russian troops and armaments from the self-proclaimed republic of Transdnestr would restart soon

* Deputy head of the Federal Agency for Industry Stanislav Puginsky said the Russian government would never allow defense industry enterprises to go bankrupt
