KUALA LUMPUR, December 10 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the significance of the first summit of Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, due to take place December 13, could hardly be overestimated.
"The summit will give our leaders a unique opportunity to meet in a multi-nation format, consolidate the positive achievements and outline cooperation priorities and directions," Lavrov said at a meeting of foreign ministers in Kuala Lumpur.
Lavrov added the ASEAN leaders would expect Russian President Vladimir Putin to present his view on the world and regional situation, on Russia's geostrategic position and role in international affairs.
