VLADIVOSTOK, December 11 (RIA Novosti, Anatoly Ilyukhov) - Voter turnout at Sunday's elections for the legislature of the Khabarovsk Territory in Russia's Far East has passed the required threshold, the local election commission said.
As of 14:00 p.m. local time (04:00 a.m. GMT), 20.38% of registered voters had come to the polls, crossing the electoral threshold of 20%, the commission said.
For the first time, the Khabarovsk Territory is holding its legislature elections according to the mixed system of majority and proportional representation. Voters must elect 26 deputies, including 13 deputies from political parties and public associations and 13 deputies in single-seat constituencies.
