WARSAW, December 12 (RIA Novosti, Leonid Sviridov) - The Polish Foreign Ministry is waiting for explanations from the Belarusian ambassador in Warsaw in connection with the refusal to allow entry to a state official, the ministry's press service said Monday.

Belarusian authorities refused Sunday to allow an aide to the Polish premier, responsible for issues related to the Polish diaspora, to enter the country and told him that he was considered a persona non-grata in Belarus.

The incident became the next step in the development of a diplomatic conflict between the two countries involving the Polish Union in Belarus. Many activists from the union have recently become targets of political persecution by Belarus authorities.

In the past several months, both countries mutually expelled three diplomats and Poland even recalled its ambassador in Belarus for consultations over the conflict.
