Valery Kenyakin, the co-chairman of the Mixed Control Commission for the solution of the South Ossetian conflict, said the initiatives "incorporate the ideas voiced by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili at the 59th session of the United Nations".
The president's proposals imply the development of a joint Georgian-Ossetian plan, Kenyakin said.
Saakashvili had proposed three stages for regulating the conflict, without deadlines, to the UN General Assembly, but later spoke of a three-year regulation period.
Kokoity proposed launching a task force on February 1 2006 within the Mixed Control Commission to develop a coordinated program.
Beginning March 1 2006, the group will present a joint Georgian-Ossetian conflict settlement plan to the commission to be used as a basis at meetings between the leaders involved in the conflict regulation talks.
Kenyakin said the president's proposal envisages "a three-stage regulation plan. The first stage is the demilitarization of the conflict zone, the rebuilding of trust and a guarantee of security. The second is socio-economic rehabilitation. The third is political settlement".
