MOSCOW, December 16 (RIA Novosti)-A Moscow district federal arbitration court has rejected an appeal filed by embattled oil major Yukos against a back-tax bill of about $3 billion for the year 2000.
The Federal Tax Service made a decision to impose a back-tax bill for $3 billion on the oil company on April 14, 2004. Yukos appealed this decision but on August 27, 2004 the Moscow arbitration court rejected the appeal. Later the sum of Yukos debt was reduced by about $1 million.
Yukos paid this debt in 2004.
