MOSCOW, December 16 (RIA Novosti) - The European Aeronautic Defense and Space company (EADS) has bought a 10% stake in Russian aircraft manufacturer Irkut for $65.3 million, an Irkut representative said Friday.
Yelena Fyordorova said EADS needed the 10% stake to be represented on the Irkut board of directors.
Irkut was established in 2002 as a vertically integrated holding in charge of the production, sales and after-sale maintenance of Russian military and civilian aircraft.
The company also produces Be-200 multipurpose amphibious planes, the Yak-130 trainer and unmanned aircraft.
This year the company will begin supplying components for the Airbus-A320 and continue the construction of the Su-30MKM for the Malaysian air force.
