MOSCOW, December 16 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin praised Friday the start of broadcasting by Russia Today TV, the country's first 24-hour English-language news channel.
"The beginning has been good," he said. "I am convinced that the company will develop."
The channel, which hit the airwaves for the first time Saturday, December 10, employs about 500 people, including 80 foreign experts.
Plans to create Russia Today were announced in June and technical broadcasting began September 15.
