MOSCOW, December 21 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a resolution approving the total number of military officers responsible for civil defense at 19,500, the Kremlin press service said Wednesday.
According to the resolution, "The number of civil defense military personnel will be 19,500 as of January 1, 2006."
The Cabinet will set the number of civilian staff within the forces, and address financial, material, technical, and other issues included in the resolution.
