TBILISI, December 24 (RIA Novosti) - A Georgian peacekeeping battalion has returned home from Iraq as part of a regular rotation and another one will be sent in to replace it early next spring, Georgia's Defense Ministry said Saturday.
Some 850 Georgian troops remain deployed in Iraq, mostly combat troops trained by U.S. military instructors. Earlier this month, defense officials in Tbilisi reiterated they had no plans to reduce Georgia's military presence in Iraq.
