KIEV, December 29 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has ordered the government to take immediate measures to resolve the dispute over Russian natural gas and sign a gas agreement with the Central Asian republic of Turkmenistan.
The presidential resolution on the country's energy policy and security was published Thursday.
The resolution reads: "To take immediate measures to sign a long-term agreement with Turkmenistan on natural gas transportation to Ukraine; to ensure payments in kind for Turkmen gas; and to finalize the terms and amount of Russian natural gas shipments and transit via Ukraine."
