BRUSSELS, December 30 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Shishlo) - The European Commission said Friday it did not think Russian natural gas deliveries to the European Union would be disrupted.
EC representative Amadeu Altafaj-Tardio said the EU was simply observing the Russia-Ukraine talks but was concerned over the failure to conclude a contract two days before the deadline, adding that he still hoped for an agreement.
Altafaj-Tardio said he did not know anything about the Austrian government, which is to assume the EU presidency January 1, allegedly sending representatives to Moscow to assist the gas negotiations.
