KIEV, December 30 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian energy expert Volodymyr Omelchenko said Friday that Kiev should forget about $80 per 1,000 cu m for Russian natural gas and instead offer 70%-80% ($160-$180) of the price proposed by Russian energy giant Gazprom.
"Russia will never agree to the Ukraine-proposed price of $80 per 1,000 cu m. It shouldn't be hoped for," Omelchenko said on national television.
Gazprom has set a market price of $230 per 1,000 cu m for Ukraine in 2006.
