MOSCOW, December 31 (RIA Novosti) - Russian prosecutor general's office has officially charged the former Russian nuclear power minister, Yevgeny Adamov, with fraud and abuse of power.
"Today fraud and power abuse charges have been officially put forward against Adamov in the presence of his lawyers," an official spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office said, adding that the former minister would remain in custody in the Russian capital.
Adamov, 63, was extradited from Switzerland last night where he had been under arrest since May at the request of U.S. authorities who accused him of misappropriating $9 million granted to Russia for nuclear safety projects.
