MOSCOW, January 5 (RIA Novosti) -- The Russian Strategic Missile Forces are planning to disband several units in the Urals and Siberia, Commander Nikolai Solovtsov said Thursday.
"In 2006, we are planning to disband several silo-based and mobile units in the Urals and Siberia," Solovtsov said.
In 2005, Russia disbanded two missile divisions, but formed more than 20 new units, he said.
Overall, the Strategic Missile Forces accomplished all the goals set for 2005, and showed the strong professional level of personnel and the reliability of the missiles, Solovtsov said.
