BAKU, January 9 (RIA Novosti, Gerai Dadashev) - Russian and Azerbaijani energy officials will continue talks to determine energy tariffs and volumes of electric power supplies in both directions in January, Azerbaijan's energy company Azerenergy said Monday with reference to Vice President Marlen Askerov.

The company said Azerbaijan would be importing Russian electricity at 3.64 cents per kilowatt-hour in Jan.-Nov. 2006, 30% more expensively than in 2005, and exporting excessive energy to Russia at 1.55 cents per kw-hr.

Askerov said Azerenergy bought some 3 billion kw-hrs from Russia annually, which accounted for 3-4% of the country's demand, and sold some 1 billion kw-hrs to Russia.

Earlier Azerenergy head Etibar Pirverdiyev said Azerbaijan could give up Russian energy if no compromise was reached on the prices.
