MOSCOW, January 11 (RIA Novosti)-Five people have died in a fire in a small residential block in northern Russia, the Emergency Situations Ministry said Wednesday.
A spokesman said that the blaze broke out in the early hours of the morning in a block housing 12 apartments in the town of Nyandom, 300 kilometers (about 190 miles) south of regional center Archangelsk.
In all, 20 people, including 12 children, were said to have been in the building, which will now be pulled down. Details of the victims have not been released.
