MOSCOW, January 15 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Kamaz team led by Vladimir Chagin won the truck race Sunday at the Paris Dakar Rally, an annual off-road tournament that runs a course from Europe to North Africa.
Due to the tragic deaths of two boys hit by vehicles during the race, one in Guinea and the second the following day near Kaffrine in Senegal, the final stage of the rally has been aborted. Instead of completing the course, competitors will circle Pink Lake, 20 miles from Senegal's capital Dakar.
From the results of the first fourteen stages, the Kamaz team led by Chagin finished first.
