MOSCOW, January 17 (RIA Novosti)-Police detained a man in Moscow Thursday on suspicion of committing a crime that would have seen Willy Wonka demanding a life-sentence.
Police said a resident of the northern republic of Karelia had been apprehended in a central Moscow supermarket attempting to steal 41 chocolate bars.
"The chocolate was confiscated from the man when he was arrested," the police said, before adding that the saccharine swag that would no doubt have melted many children's hearts had been worth about $35.
The man has been released on his own recognizance.
