MOSCOW, January 18 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Finance Ministry intends to issue government securities in 2006 worth 251 billion rubles (about $8.8 billion), a government source said Wednesday.
The Russian government is expected to discuss the issue volumes of government bonds at a session on January 19.
According to the source, the Finance Ministry intends to issue federal loan bonds (OFZs) in the amount of 186 billion rubles (about $6.5 billion), and government savings bonds in the amount of 65 billion rubles (about $2.2 billion).
The source said that in accordance with the guidelines of Russia's debt policy, the government intended to replace foreign debt with domestic borrowing.
