ROME, January 31 (RIA Novosti, Olga Grinkrug) - In 2007, the Russian ruble will be fully convertible, Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said Tuesday.
"Since the beginning of 2007 we will fully liberalize all capital flows," Kudrin said. "It means that the ruble will be fully convertible."
He added that the Russian economy had been witnessing a stable growth and Russia was one of the world's most attractive countries in terms of investments.
The minister said direct investments in the Russian economy had stood at $120 billion in 2005, including $25 billion in manufacturing and $30 million in transport and communications.
Kudrin also pointed to a record growth of Russia's stock market last year.
"We may take new measures and decisions to attract more investments in Russia," he said.
