MUNICH, February 4 (RIA Novosti) - There are no political obstacles to Georgia's accession to NATO, the country's foreign minister said Saturday.

Gela Bezhuashvili, currently attending the Munich Conference on Security Policy, said: "There are no political obstacles to Georgia's accession to NATO. While a complex range of problems have to be addressed for entry to the European Union, here it only remains to resolve certain issues of standards."

"In March, a NATO evaluation committee will arrive [in Georgia], and will write a report on which a program will be based to include Georgia in the North Atlantic Alliance. Partnership relations between Georgia and NATO are working very well," he said.

Georgia may join NATO before the end of the year, the minister said.

"We already discussed this on Friday with the U.S. Secretary of Defense, and today with almost all the ministers present here [in Munich]... They all view the matter positively."

Bezhuashvili said Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's working visit to Munich, including his attendance at the Conference on Security Policy, "is progressing successfully in aspects."

The aim of the Georgian delegation's participation at the conference is to "define its place in the structure of European security," he said.
